21/11/2025 – Weather in Cornwall – Yellow Weather Warning For Ice
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice from 6pm on Thursday 20th November until 11am today, Friday 21st November, with wintry showers expected to create icy patches across parts of the region.
What to Expect
According to the warning, wintry showers are set to move inland through Thursday night before easing on Friday morning. At lower levels these showers may fall as rain, sleet or small hail. Areas above 250 metres could see snow, with small accumulations of 1 to 2 cm possible.
As temperatures drop below freezing, untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths may develop icy patches. The Met Office says this could lead to injuries from slips and falls, as well as minor disruption for anyone travelling early this morning.
Advice for Staying Safe
The guidance stresses simple steps to reduce the risk of slips and travel problems. People are advised to leave home at least five minutes earlier to avoid rushing, choose pavements along main roads when walking, and stick to treated routes if cycling.
Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions before setting off, while those using buses or trains should check timetables and be ready to adjust their plans.
The Met Office also asks people to stay alert to updates, as weather warnings can change.
Why Yellow?
The yellow warning reflects a medium likelihood of icy conditions with a low impact overall, according to the Met Office.
