22/01/2024 – MET Office Still Have Yellow Warning In Place For Cornwall
Residents of Cornwall and surrounding regions breathe a sigh of relief as the MET Office indicates that the worst of Storm Isha may be over. After enduring a series of disruptive weather conditions, including yellow and amber warnings, the latest forecasts bring a glimmer of hope, with no further warnings for Cornwall after today.
The yellow wind warning, effective until 12:00 UTC today, remains the last hurdle as the remnants of Storm Isha continue to affect the area. The warning had cautioned against strong winds causing potential disruptions to travel, utilities, and posing risks to buildings and personal safety.
However, the absence of new warnings post-today signals a significant easing of the storm’s grip. The South West England weather forecast aligns with this improving scenario. Despite another windy day with coastal gales and blustery showers, the conditions are expected to stabilize gradually. Tonight’s forecast suggests a quieter period, with lighter winds and a temporary drop in temperatures.
Looking ahead, Tuesday is predicted to be windy and damp but without the severe implications seen in the previous days. The rest of the week points towards a progressive return to normalcy. Wednesday is expected to be brighter and less windy, followed by a mild and largely frost-free period towards the end of the week.
Residents who have been on high alert can expect a return to routine activities, although caution is still advised until the current warning expires. Travel services disrupted by Storm Isha are anticipated to resume normal operations gradually, and utility services affected by the storm are likely to be restored soon.
The MET Office continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary, but for now, Cornwall appears to have weathered the worst of Storm Isha.
