29/11/2025 – Weather in Cornwall – Yellow Weather Warning For Rain

Published On: 29 November 2025Last Updated: 29 November 2025By

Could Heavy Rain Cut Off Parts of Cornwall Today?

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain from 6am to 11.59pm today, Saturday 29th November 2025, with the potential for travel disruption, flooding and even communities becoming cut off.

What the Met Office Says Could Happen

According to the warning, spray and flooding on roads will probably make journey times longer. Bus and train services are also likely to be affected, with a chance of cancellations where flooding occurs.

There is a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. The Met Office also notes a small chance that some communities may become cut off by flooded roads, and a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to homes and businesses.

How the Weather Is Expected to Develop

Rain, heavy at times, is expected to develop across southwest England on Friday night before spreading northeastward through today. It is forecast to clear into the North Sea tonight.

There is uncertainty over the exact corridor of heaviest rainfall across England and Wales, but 20 to 30 mm may fall fairly widely, with 50 mm possible in places. Over high ground there is a low chance of 60 to 80 mm. Strong winds may also accompany the heavy rain, particularly across eastern parts of England tonight.

Advice for Staying Safe

The Met Office advises checking if your property could be at risk of flooding and, if so, preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.

Travellers are urged to check road conditions or public transport timetables and amend plans if necessary.

For those worried about possible power cuts, the advice is to prepare in advance by gathering torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.

People are also encouraged to stay up to date with the latest forecasts in case the warning changes.

The Met Office explains that the warning is yellow because it carries a very low likelihood but a medium impact.
