“Guess the Weight of the Pup” Contest Raises Funds for Seal Sanctuary

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary recently concluded its half-term ‘Guess the Weight of the Pup’ competition, a unique event that invited participants to estimate the weight of a seal pup named Ricky Gervais. The competition, which took place on site, saw a wide range of guesses, including some notably high estimates.

After all entries were reviewed, the sanctuary announced that Ricky Gervais tipped the scales at 17.43kg. The closest guess came from Emma Brookes, who estimated the pup’s weight at 17.49kg. For her nearly accurate guess, Brookes was awarded a giant seal plush, a symbol of her support and connection to the sanctuary’s mission.

The event was not only a fun activity for participants but also served a greater purpose. Through entry donations, the competition successfully raised £319.33. These funds are earmarked to support the sanctuary’s efforts in caring for seal pups in need. The Cornish Seal Sanctuary expressed its gratitude towards everyone who participated in the competition, highlighting the vital role community support plays in wildlife conservation.
