Now the Easter holiday has ended, the Bude Surf Life Saving Club remains steadfast in its commitment to beach safety, continuing its volunteer patrols at Crooklets Beach every weekend and bank holiday.

Despite the absence of RNLI lifeguards at Crooklets, the club members have taken up the responsibility of providing safety advice to beachgoers, ensuring a safe experience for those venturing into the water.

The Continuation of Patrols:

While the lifeguard service is yet to commence at Crooklets, with only Widemouth and Summerleaze beaches being covered by RNLI Lifeguards, Bude Surf Life Saving Club has taken proactive steps to fill the gap. Members of the club, including club captain Zerren and dedicated member Simon, have been actively engaging with beach visitors, offering crucial safety advice and assistance.

Recognising Dedication

Simon McIvor, a valued member of the club, was awarded the prestigious title of “Patrol Member of the Season” in 2023. This recognition came as a result of Simon’s unwavering commitment and dedication to ensuring the safety of beachgoers, as acknowledged by the local RNLI Lifeguards.

Ongoing Support and Assistance

As the summer season approaches, beach enthusiasts can expect to see Bude Surf Life Saving Club members stationed at Crooklets Beach, ready to offer guidance and support. Their presence will complement the efforts of the RNLI lifeguards, who are scheduled to return to Crooklets in late May.

With the Easter holiday behind us, the Bude Surf Life Saving Club remains a reassuring presence at Crooklets Beach, committed to promoting water safety and offering assistance to beach visitors. Their dedication to safeguarding the community exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and underscores the importance of swimming at lifeguarded beaches. As the summer unfolds, their continued patrols serve as a vital reminder to prioritise safety when enjoying the beauty of Cornwall’s coastline.
