In a heartwarming gesture, the Looe Valley Rotary Club has donated £500 to the Looe Lifeboat Station.

The donation, presented by three Rotarians, aims to support the crucial lifesaving efforts of the volunteer crew.

Donation Presentation at Lifeboat Station

On Wednesday evening, 19 June 2024, three members of the Looe Valley Rotary Club— Ivor Campbell, Jonathan Newman, and Megan Williams—visited the Looe Lifeboat Station. Representing their outgoing president, Stephen McGuire, the trio handed over a cheque for £500 to the Lifeboat Operations Manager, Dave Haines, and the volunteer crew at the start of their training session.

Supporting Lifesaving Efforts

The funds, raised through various fundraising activities by the Rotary Club, will play a significant role in supporting the operations of the lifeboat station. Dave Haines expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire crew, acknowledging the importance of such donations in sustaining their mission of saving lives at sea.

Training and Lifeboat Launch

Following the presentation, Ivor, Jonathan, and Megan had the opportunity to watch both of the station’s inshore lifeboats launch for an exercise. The demonstration provided the Rotarians with a firsthand look at the skills and dedication of the volunteer crew, highlighting the impact of their generous contribution.

The Looe Lifeboat Station continues to rely on the community’s support, and donations like these from the Looe Valley Rotary Club are vital in maintaining their lifesaving services.
