Stormy Sunday? Cornish Pirates Reveal Contingency Plan for Doncaster Knights Clash
High Wind Warning Issued for Match Day
The Met Office has issued a high wind warning ahead of this Sunday’s Cornish Pirates match against Doncaster Knights. The club is closely monitoring conditions and may need to implement a high wind contingency plan to ensure the safety of spectators.
What Happens If the Plan Is Activated?
The contingency plan involves relocating fans from the main Truro & Penwith College grandstand to alternative areas around the ground. According to the Cornish Pirates, ticket holders will be able to use unsold seats in other parts of the stadium, but the number of covered spaces in the Microcomms Stand is very limited.
For those willing and able to stand, covered standing is available at the Newlyn end of the ground. Other options include uncovered seating in the Yeomans Stand at the Penzance end and additional uncovered standing areas.
Support for Those with Limited Mobility
Spectators with limited mobility will be given priority in the Microcomms Stand. However, for wheelchair users, there is no covered alternative available. Dedicated space will be provided by the stanchion rails in the clubhouse corner of the ground. Stewards will be on hand to provide assistance and guidance as needed.
Decision to Be Made on the Day
The club’s Safety Officer will monitor wind conditions leading up to the match, with a final decision set to be made at lunchtime on Sunday.
Sally Pettipher, Cornish Pirates’ CEO, urged fans to remain patient and considerate. “We are planning for the worst but hoping for the best,” said Sally. “If we need to put this plan into action, we ask that people to be kind and considerate to each other.”
