Highlights include:

  • The Rockpool 2025

  • Duo of Duck 2025

  • Venison carpaccio with beets, nasturtiums and blackberries

  • Beef tartare with soy, ginger, shiso leaf and horseradish

  • Chocolate fondant with sesame ginger praline ice cream

  • Baked Cheesecake 2025

Jude Kereama said: “We can’t wait to bring back a really fun menu with a blast from the past. The nostalgia menu will celebrate some of Kota’s stalwart dishes from over the years, updated with a little modernisation and innovation. We’re all super excited to see them back for a truly gourmet experience.”

The Nostalgia Menu will run throughout October and November, giving guests the chance to revisit Kota’s journey while enjoying inventive takes on the dishes that have shaped Jude’s cooking for nearly two decades.

Jude’s Story

Born in New Zealand, Jude honed his craft alongside Simon Gault before moving to the UK, where he met his late wife Jane. The couple settled in Porthleven and opened Kota in 2006, later launching sister restaurant Kota Kai in 2011. Both restaurants sit on the harbour head in the heart of the Cornish fishing town.

Jude has flown the flag for the South West on Great British Menu, winning the title of South West champion and appearing as banquet chef in 2021. He is also one of the founders of the Porthleven Food Festival, which returns from 2nd to 4th May 2025.

Awards and Recognition

Over the years, Jude’s passion for Cornwall’s produce has shone through his cooking. His dedication earned him the Trencherman’s Award for Special Contribution in 2020 and he was named Chef of the Year in 2019. Kota itself has been recognised in the Good Food Guide, the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand, and by the AA with three Rosettes.

Beyond the Menu

Kota also offers guests the chance to extend their stay, with three bedrooms available in Porthleven. Sommelier Dan Wright has curated an extensive wine collection, with both old and new-world bottles, while wine flights are served alongside the menu of Cornish pinxos and the chef’s menu of the day.
