Will This Be Camborne’s Most Festive Christmas Light Switch On Yet?
Camborne is gearing up for its Christmas Lights Switch On this Saturday 22nd November, with a packed afternoon of music, entertainment and festive treats across the town.
Music, Performances and Walkabout Entertainment
The stage in Commercial Square will come alive from 1pm, kicking off with Camborne Brass Band. They’ll be followed by performances from CD Kids, Keur Arwodha Kemeneth and Makasong, Holman’s Choir, TR14ers, The Goonbillys, The Ukuhayles and Redruth Carol Choir.
Hotchpotch stilt walkers will also be roaming around town throughout the afternoon.
Support from Local Businesses
The event has been organised by BID Camborne with financial support from Camborne Town Council. R G Kellow have installed the lights, handled road closures and given sponsorship. Other sponsors, either financial or in kind, include Macsalvors Plant Hire, Speedy Hire, Arcadia Tree Care, A R Newport Transport, Cormac, Apollo Bingo and Firecrest.
Father Christmas Visits and Festive Extras
BID Camborne reached out to elves Cam and Bronne, who arranged for Kehelland Shop to host Father Christmas from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Scallywags Café will be holding a Christmas Fair from 3pm to 6pm, offering food and handmade crafts. Tyacks Hotel is set to serve warming drinks and mince pies with Santa’s elves and reindeer.
“Merry and Bright” Across the Town
“Our theme this year is Merry and Bright and Lamps and Tubes Illuminations have done us proud with their street and tree lighting installations,” said Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne Manager.
“Local businesses are looking splendid too with lots of decorations and some special activities planned.
“Christmas in Camborne is always special and we’re looking forward to a fun, very festive time.”
The Big Moment
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm.
