Christmas Activities Announced for Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry

Published On: 2 December 2025Last Updated: 2 December 2025By

Tamar Crossings is rolling out a festive line up this December for anyone travelling via the Tamar Bridge or Torpoint Ferry, with reindeer themed toll booths, colouring sheets for children and free tolls on Christmas Day.

Festive Touches Across the Bridge and Ferry

Throughout December, the toll booths at Tamar Bridge will be renamed after Santa’s reindeer and given a seasonal makeover. One toll booth operator will also be dressing as Santa, so travellers are being encouraged to keep an eye out for the famous red suit.

Families can pick up free Christmas colouring sheets when crossing the bridge. These are available from the visitor centre or the toll booths. Completed sheets can be returned to the visitor centre and there’s an open invitation to share photos of the finished artwork on Tamar Crossings’ social media channels for a chance to be featured online.

Santa Runs, Bikes and Colouring

Tamar Crossings will once again be welcoming the runners taking part in the Saltash Santa Fun Run and the riders of Santas on a Bike. Both groups will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West and will make their way across the Tamar Bridge on Saturday 6th December, bringing what has been described as a burst of festive energy and a sea of Santas.

Staff at both the toll booths and on the ferries will also be wearing festive jumpers during December.

Free Travel on Christmas Day

Both the Torpoint Ferry and Tamar Bridge will be toll free on Christmas Day as part of a long standing tradition. Travellers are encouraged to check operating hours and timetables across the Christmas and New Year period on the Tamar Crossings website.

“A Little Extra Joy”

Chief Officer of Tamar Crossings, Philip Robinson, said:

“We’re delighted to bring a little extra joy to everyone travelling across the bridge and ferry this December. Our teams really enjoy getting involved, and the response from the community each year is incredibly heart-warming. From families taking part in the colouring activities to the wonderful sight of the Santa Fun Run and Santas on a Bike crossing the bridge in support of Children’s Hospice South West, this can be a real reminder of the community spirit we’re proud to be part of. We hope these festive touches help brighten people’s journeys and bring a smile to those travelling across the Tamar this season.”
