The Headland Wins Regional and National Sustainability Awards
The Headland Hotel and Spa has been named the Most Sustainable Large Organisation at the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards, just weeks after taking a national title at the Hotel Cateys.
The regional award was announced last week at a ceremony held at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth.
Regional Recognition in Falmouth
The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards celebrate organisations across the region that successfully balance profit with care for the environment. The Most Sustainable Large Organisation category focuses on environmental growth, resource efficiency, circular economy and carbon neutrality, alongside benefits for employees and the wider community.
The awards were launched in 2002 and are regarded as the county’s leading celebration of sustainable business practice.
National Win in London Weeks Earlier
The latest success follows another major achievement at the end of November, when the family owned hotel won Sustainable Hotel of the Year at the Hotel Cateys. The ceremony was attended by more than 800 industry leaders in London.
Together, the two awards highlight The Headland’s continued focus on environmental stewardship, community work and the planet.
Reaction from The Headland
Bethany Branigan, Sustainability Lead at The Headland, said:
“To have the judges recognise the effort we’re putting in to make a real difference, not just for us, but for the community and the planet, is genuinely amazing.
Winning this award gives us the energy to push even harder next year on our sustainability journey.”
Judges Highlight Wider Impact
Cllr Loic Rich, Cornwall Council cabinet member for environment and climate change and one of the awards judges, said:
“The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards celebrate our collective, sustainable vision for the region and the planet.
“We have a range of energetic and enthusiastic businesses, groups and individuals wanting to change the way we think and act about safeguarding our environment right on our doorstep.
“These awards showcase our community efforts to repair and heal nature, right here across our Duchy, but with a global vision.”
A Place Among Established Cornish Brands
The Headland now joins a respected list of previous winners of the awards, including Finisterre, Waterhaul and the St Eval Candle Company. The dual recognition positions the iconic resort as a benchmark for sustainable practice within both the UK hospitality sector and regional business community.
