New Quiet Connections Meet Ups Begin in Wadebridge from 29th January
A new weekly Meet Up is launching in Wadebridge aimed at people who identify as quiet, introverted, shy, or highly sensitive, offering a calm and welcoming space to spend time with others without pressure.
Run by Quiet Connections, the Meet Ups will begin on Thursday 29th January 2026 and take place every Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Wadebridge Family Hub, based at Camel House on Goldsworthy Way.
A space designed for quieter people
The gatherings are designed to feel gentle and pressure free, with no expectation to be outgoing or chatty. Quiet Connections describes the philosophy simply as, “It’s okay to talk and it’s okay to be quiet too.”
Hayley Stanton, Director of Quiet Connections, said:
“We know that traditional social gatherings can sometimes feel overwhelming as a quieter person, and you can feel ‘on the outside’ at times. Our Meet Ups are designed to offer a warm and supportive space where people can engage in ways that feel comfortable whether that’s chatting with others, enjoying a creative activity, or simply sitting with a book in quiet companionship.”
What people can expect
Those attending can take part at their own pace, with no pressure to join in. Optional activities include creative journaling, mindful colouring, and crochet, with materials provided. People are also welcome to bring their own projects or simply read quietly alongside others.
For anyone who would like to chat but is unsure how to start, conversation starter questions are placed on tables. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits are also available.
Led by local Quiet Connectors
The Wadebridge Meet Ups are led by Quiet Connectors Lynda, Louise, and Stephen, who understand the challenges of living in a world that often favours extroversion.
Lynda said:
“Quiet Connections reflects the belief that the world needs gentle, quieter people just as much as confident, outspoken ones. This is a space where you don’t have to explain yourself, where there are no expectations, and where it’s okay to simply be.”
Louise added:
“I used to struggle to feel comfortable in environments where I had to step out of my comfort zone to be heard. I’m motivated to be a part of the Quiet Meet Ups, as I now love my ‘quietness’ and I am keen to assist others to feel accepted and thrive in theirs.”
Part of a growing network across Cornwall
The new Wadebridge Meet Up joins existing weekly gatherings already running in Truro, Liskeard, Helston, Falmouth, Penzance, Redruth, Camborne, and online, with more locations planned as volunteer interest grows.
The expansion has been supported in part by funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, helping Quiet Connections continue its work creating inclusive spaces for quieter people across Cornwall.
