Cornwall School of Maths and Science (CSMS) is celebrating what has been described as “an extraordinary achievement” after three Year 13 students secured offers from every medical school they applied to.

The students, who are part of the school’s Medical Pathway, received offers from some of the UK’s most competitive universities, including the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.

11 Offers from 11 Interviews

The trio collectively achieved 11 offers from 11 interviews, following top-percentile scores in the UCAT, a test widely used by universities to select candidates for medical courses.

CSMS, the sixth form within Camborne Science & International Academy and part of Athena Learning Trust, focuses on science, maths, and related pathways.

Their applications were supported by the CSMS Medical Pathway, which includes UCAT preparation, personal statement guidance, interview practice, and mentoring.

Students Praise Support and Teamwork

The students have highlighted the role of staff and peer support in helping them succeed.

Hala E said: “The biggest difference was the unwavering support from our teachers. In the days leading up to interviews, we were constantly practising and building confidence.”

Hannah C added: “We had dedicated interview sessions with teachers covering every topic and question type, which made us feel fully prepared for anything.”

Chloe F also spoke about the value of working together, saying: “Being able to talk to each other about UCAT strategies and difficult questions made a huge difference. We would have struggled without that support network.”

“Outstanding” Achievement

Emma Haase, Principal of Camborne Science and International Academy, praised the students’ success.

Emma Haase said: “This is an extraordinary achievement and one that reflects the determination, talent and resilience of our students. To secure a 100% interview success rate and multiple offers from world-leading universities is outstanding. We are incredibly proud of them and of the staff whose guidance and commitment have helped make this possible.”
