Free family day of bugs and blooms at Kehelland this July

Bug hotels, flower crafts and a pop-up café serving hot dogs and homemade cake are all on the cards at Kehelland Trust later this month, and getting in won’t cost you a penny.

Kehelland Trust is running a Wasson Wednesday event called Bugs & Blooms on Wednesday 29 July, from 10am to 3.30pm. Entry is free, and there’s no need to book. The Trust is pitching it as a relaxed family day out for the summer holidays, with hands-on activities aimed at all ages.

Visitors can explore the nature trail, build their own bug hotel and get stuck into flower crafts. There’s a pop-up café serving hot dogs, homemade cakes and ice cream, plus the shop and plant nursery to browse.

The practical bits

The event runs at Kehelland Horticultural Centre, Kehelland, TR14 0DD, near Camborne. There’s a large free car park on site.

Entry and the nature trail are free, but the craft workshops cost £4 per person. Card payments are accepted with a £3 minimum spend. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

On accessibility, the kids’ craft workshops, shop, toilets and café can all be reached, but the nature trail runs through a field with uneven ground, so bear that in mind. Organisers are asking people to wear sensible footwear for an outdoor setting and to bring clothing to suit the weather, whether that’s a sun hat or a waterproof.
