What’s changing
Swiss carrier Edelweiss is adding a Friday rotation to its Newquay-Zürich schedule between 3rd July and 21st August 2026.
The new Friday timings are:
- WK286 departing Zürich at 11:35, arriving Newquay at 12:35
- WK287 departing Newquay at 14:10, arriving Zürich at 17:05
Flights currently run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The summer boost takes the route to its highest frequency since it launched, with three weekly rotations during the busiest holiday weeks.
Why it matters for Cornish travellers
Zürich’s city centre sits 15 minutes from the airport by train, and rail connections reach Lucerne, Bern and Basel in under two hours. The airport also operates as a major European hub, with same-day onward connections to Austria, Germany and Greece.
Cornwall Airport Newquay’s Commercial Director, Nigel Scott, said the move reflected strong demand for the route.
“This is a very positive development for Cornwall Airport Newquay and a clear endorsement of the Zurich route’s performance within the Edelweiss network,” Nigel said.
“The increased frequency during peak summer reflects strong demand for Cornwall and the success of our partnership in developing the route. Additional capacity will support inbound tourism, enhance connectivity via Zurich and provide greater flexibility for passengers. We look forward to building on this momentum with Edelweiss in the seasons ahead.”
A route that keeps growing
The Zürich-Cornwall link started out as a once-weekly service and has expanded steadily since launch. The summer 2026 schedule of three weekly rotations marks the route’s biggest jump in capacity to date.

About the airport
Cornwall Airport Newquay connects the region to UK and European destinations through seven airline partners, with strategic links to London, Manchester and Dublin. The Dublin route offers onward connections to the USA.
The airport was recognised as the second friendliest in the world (and first in the UK) in a 2025 survey, and picked up Gold at the 2025 Cornwall Tourism Awards in the International Tourism category. It also won Airports UK’s Health & Safety Week Award in both 2024 and 2025.
With one of the UK’s longest runways at 2,744 metres, the site supports commercial flights, business and general aviation, training, military use and lifeline services including Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and HM Coastguard. It’s also home to Spaceport Cornwall, the UK’s first licensed spaceport, making Newquay the country’s only combined air and space port.
Flights to Zürich can be booked through the Edelweiss website, and the full flight network is listed on the airport’s site.
