Two nights in the Southwest

The band have lined up two headline shows in the region this autumn. Saturday 28 November sees them at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth, followed by Sunday 29 November at The Underground in Plymouth.

It’s a return to ground they already know. Rum Jungle sold out shows in both Newquay and Falmouth on previous UK tours, so the welcome here is not in doubt.

A new album behind the tour

The shows follow the release of Marginalia, the band’s second album, which came out last week via Downtown.

Recorded across immersive sessions in Sydney, the record was written over a year of personal and professional change, with the band picking through ideas of time, memory and self-worth. Where their debut was shaped in confined spaces, Marginalia was built in larger studios, and it shows. Booming drums, textured guitars and plenty of room around them give the songs a raw, live feel.

The influences run wide. There are echoes of the distorted edge of Pixies and the loose jangle of Pavement, alongside touches of The Strokes, Dominic Fike, Mk.gee, Beck, Lana Del Rey and Dijon. The result pulls between indie rock, slacker rock, acoustic songwriting and a contemporary pop streak.

One of Australia’s fastest-rising bands

Marginalia lands at a big moment for the group. The album sits alongside festival slots at Austin City Limits and Shaky Knees, a headline run across Australia and New Zealand, and a UK and European tour supporting indie outfit Cassia. The Falmouth and Plymouth dates are their own headline shows, slotted in among that European run.
