Visit Newquay Talks Year-Round Breaks at Royal Cornwall Show

A spin-the-wheel game, a roaming Instagram frame and hundreds of conversations. Visit Newquay packed plenty into its stand at the Royal Cornwall Show, and the message running through it had little to do with peak season.

The tourism team, which sits within Newquay Town Council, used the show to push the town as a place worth visiting all year rather than only over the summer. The stand was built to get people involved, with themed giveaways supplied by member businesses that covered everything from family days out to couples breaks and outdoor experiences.

There was a spin-the-wheel game, a Newquay-themed quiz and free children’s activity packs, all of which went down well across the run of the show. The weather was not always kind, but the team still managed plenty of positive chats with visitors from across Cornwall and further afield.

A good number of those visitors wanted the practical stuff. Where to stay, what to do and what is coming up in the months ahead.

Old faces and new business

The show also gave the team a chance to catch up with existing members and meet businesses thinking about working with Visit Newquay. One of the talking points was the spread of ages getting stuck in at the stand, alongside the Visit Newquay Instagram frame, which was carried around the showground so people could capture and share moments from the event.

A spokesperson for Visit Newquay said: “Royal Cornwall Show was a brilliant opportunity for us to get out and talk about everything Newquay has to offer. We had some really positive conversations, caught up with familiar faces and met businesses interested in working with us.

“It was great to see so many people getting involved with the stand and to be able to showcase such a wide range of experiences across Newquay.”
