Newquay strikes Gold again as Hendra takes South West floral trophy
Four results, one town. And one of them belongs to a group of people who did it all for free.
Newquay is celebrating a strong set of results at the 2026 South West in Bloom awards, with Gold for Newquay BID, another Overall Gold for the town, third place in Art in the Landscape and a regional trophy for Hendra Holiday Park.

Gold for Newquay BID
Newquay BID achieved Gold in the Business Improvement District category at the awards, which are part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign.
The award recognises the BID’s ongoing work to improve the town centre, support local businesses and improve the experience for residents and visitors throughout the year.
Over recent years the BID’s projects have included shopfront improvement funding, working with Newquay Town Council on Christmas lights, summer bunting and regular events, and working with Biffa to help keep the streets clean.
It has also worked with Openreach to improve the look of telecoms cabinets and with highways to sort out signage issues. The BID supports new businesses as they settle into the town, and has championed creative projects such as Newquay’s mural trail and door mural competition.
Another Overall Gold for the Bloom volunteers
Newquay has once again achieved an Overall Gold Award, recognising the work of the Newquay Bloom team.
Every bit of that work is done by volunteers, who give up their own time to improve the town’s appearance and celebrate its character.
The town also took third place in the Art in the Landscape category, one of the more challenging and competitive categories in the awards.
Hendra Holiday Park wins the Amberol Trophy
Hendra Holiday Park was awarded the Amberol Trophy for Best Business Floral Display across the whole South West region, bringing further recognition to the Newquay area.

What the judges look for
Britain in Bloom, run by the RHS, encourages communities to improve their local environment. Entries are assessed against three core pillars:
- Horticultural achievement: the quality, impact and care of planting, landscaping and green spaces.
- Environmental responsibility: efforts to improve the local environment, encourage sustainable practices, support biodiversity and keep public spaces attractive.
- Community participation: how well organisations bring in local businesses, residents, volunteers and partners to improve their area.
For Business Improvement District entries, judges also consider the work undertaken, the challenges faced, the improvements achieved and the wider impact on the town. Evidence of progress, ongoing development and collaboration all count.
What Newquay BID said
Mark from Newquay BID said: “We are absolutely delighted with these results. To achieve Gold in the Business Improvement District category is a real honour, and to see Newquay achieve another Overall Gold, alongside third place in the Art in the Landscape category, makes it an especially proud moment for the town.”
“It’s also fantastic to see Hendra Holiday Park recognised with the Amberol Trophy for Best Business Floral Display in the whole South West region. It’s a brilliant achievement and further demonstrates the quality and commitment of businesses in our area.”
“I want to give a huge amount of credit to the Newquay Bloom team. They do an incredible job for the town, and the fact that they give their time as volunteers makes their achievement even more remarkable.”
“From shopfront improvements and street cleaning to murals, signage and supporting new businesses, every project plays a part in making Newquay a better place.”
The BID says it will keep working with businesses, partners and volunteers on projects for the town centre and the local economy.
“We want Newquay to be an amazing place to visit throughout the year, not just during the peak summer season,” Mark added.
