Camborne Show Returns to Gear Farm With Record Entries

Camborne Show is only in its second year at Gear Farm and organisers already expect the largest number of heavy horses at any Cornish show this year.

Camborne Show is gearing up to be the biggest and best yet. It takes place on Saturday 18 July on land at Gear Farm, just outside the town. It is the second year the annual event has been held there.

A record year at Gear

Alongside the heavy horses, the show has record numbers of livestock entries and every available trade stand is booked. Long-standing chairman Reg Bennett says he is looking forward to another good day.

“Our attendance figures were around 4000 in 2025 and, if the weather is kind, I expect that to increase,” he said. “We moved from our previous site so the show could grow and that’s certainly happening at Gear.”

Getting there

There is a park and ride from Camborne rugby club and a free shuttle bus running from Morrisons in Pool and Troon Square. The show ground is a fifteen-minute walk from Camborne Library, and there is free car and cycle parking on site.

“There’s a lot of agricultural land in Camborne parish and Camborne Show is all about bringing the countryside to town and getting our community together,” Reg said.

From wartime fundraiser to Camborne fixture

The first Camborne Show took place in 1942, set up by the Holman family to raise money for the Red Cross.

Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne manager, said the town’s Business Improvement District is glad to back it.

“The event has become part of our history and heritage, and BID is delighted to support it,” she said. “There’s plenty for people to see and do, including craft and domestic tents, a vintage vehicle rally, horticultural displays and horse and dog shows. A really fun day out for the whole family that I can’t recommend enough.”
