St Stephen-in-Brannel to take over Stepaside Corner hedge
Anyone who has had to pull in and wait for an oncoming car at Stepaside Corner in recent months will know exactly why people kept asking about it. The hedge along that stretch of lane has been left to spread for a long time, and now it is finally getting sorted.

What the parish council has agreed
St Stephen-in-Brannel Parish Council has confirmed it will take on the future maintenance of the roadside part of the hedge leading up to and around Stepaside Corner. It means the overgrown stretch will no longer be left to grow unchecked between cuts, with the parish now responsible for keeping it in check going forward.
A cut on the way
The council says it is currently working with its contractor to finalise arrangements for what it describes as a very overdue cut. No date has been confirmed yet, but the council says it hopes to share one soon.
Residents’ concerns heard
The parish council thanked everyone in the local community who raised the state of the hedge with them. “We listened and are pleased to be able to take action,” the council said in its update.
For now, the hedge at Stepaside Corner remains exactly as it was when the complaints started, while the council and its contractor work out when the cutting can finally begin.
