Truro’s Bigbox marks nine years with a bigger office and new hire

Nine years after opening with a handful of desks at Treliske, Bigbox has run out of room again. This time, growing out of an office means growing the team too.

More space to grow at Treliske

The Truro-based creative agency has moved into a larger office within Cornwall Innovation’s Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, the business hub it has called home for the past nine years. The extra space will support the strategy, creative and production work behind Bigbox’s campaigns for clients across Cornwall and further afield, as the agency’s client base and team have both continued to grow.

A new face in the content team

As part of that growth, Bigbox has taken on Lea Johns as its new Junior Content Creator. Lea joins the content team producing what the agency calls “scroll-stopping” content for its growing list of clients, while studying for a content creation apprenticeship at Cornwall College.

Spencer Woods, Director of Bigbox, said the move marks an important step for the agency.

“Moving into a larger office marks an exciting next step for Bigbox. We have continued to grow our client base, our team and the scope of work we deliver, and this new space gives us the room to keep building on that momentum. Welcoming Lea is a key part of that. Investing in new talent and supporting an apprenticeship is incredibly important to us, particularly in an industry that is constantly evolving. Lea is already bringing fresh ideas and energy to the team, and we are delighted to support her as she develops her skills and career.”

Up against Currys and Channel 4

Bigbox’s growth has also caught national attention. The agency has been named a finalist in the Best Low Budget Campaign category at the UK Social Media Awards 2026.

The nomination recognises “The Sh!t We Deal With”, a campaign Bigbox ran for long-standing client Pellows Waste Disposal Services, Cornwall’s oldest liquid waste disposal contractor. It tackled the region’s sewage and waste-disposal challenges through a mix of social content, video and media relations, and went on to generate national and regional coverage, helping to put the issue in front of decision-makers.

Bigbox is shortlisted alongside some considerably bigger names, including Currys, Hasbro & Peppa Pig, Transport for London, Channel 4, Leeds Building Society, Weetabix and the Department for Transport. Winners are announced at the awards ceremony on 22 October.

The Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre is one of three Cornwall Innovation Centres across the county, alongside sites in Pool and Penryn, together home to more than 150 businesses managed by the University of Plymouth on behalf of Cornwall Council. Whether “The Sh!t We Deal With” comes home with the trophy will be decided at the UK Social Media Awards ceremony on 22 October.
