Line, Texture & Touch: a Lostwithiel gallery asks you to look closer

Some art is made to be seen from across the room. The work heading into a small gallery on Queen Street this October wants you much nearer than that, close enough to see the stitch, the glaze and the mark of the pencil.

Line, Texture & Touch opens at Elaine Foster-Gandey Art in Lostwithiel on Saturday 10 October. It brings together a collection of contemporary artists working across painting, textiles, jewellery, print and ceramics.

What’s in the exhibition

The curated show explores the expressive possibilities of line, surface, texture and form. It celebrates the many ways artists work with materials and mark-making, from the drawn and painted line to the tactile qualities of textiles, ceramics and jewellery.

Each artist brings a distinctive perspective. The gallery says the result is a rich and varied exhibition that invites visitors to look closely and engage with the work.

About the gallery

Elaine Foster-Gandey Art is an independent, artist-led contemporary gallery in the heart of the town. It was founded by internationally exhibiting artist Elaine Foster-Gandey and has been recognised by BBC Cornwall, Cornwall Live, Visit Cornwall and Cornwall 365.

The gallery champions a diverse range of contemporary creative practices. This exhibition reflects its commitment to showing contemporary art in an intimate, artist-led setting, supporting artists and giving audiences the chance to discover and connect with original work.
