Cornwall FA invites mums to step over the sidelines in St Agnes

Every grassroots club has them. The people on the touchline with the water bottles and the spare kit, who turn up week after week and may have wondered, once or twice, what it would be like to be on the other side of the line.

An evening in St Agnes later this month is aimed squarely at them.

Cornwall FA is running Stepping Over the Sidelines, a workshop at Enys Park, home of St Agnes AFC, on Wednesday 14 October from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Who the workshop is for

Cornwall FA describes it as a welcoming workshop for mums, female guardians, young leaders, helpers, assistants and anyone who wants to explore how they could get involved in the game.

That could mean coaching. It could mean volunteering, or supporting a local club. Or it could simply be a chance to find out what opportunities are out there. The idea is to come along, have a go and discover your next step.

What happens on the night

The evening mixes interactive classroom activities with practical sessions.

There will also be the chance to find out more about courses such as EE Playmaker and Introduction to Coaching Football.

How to sign up

• When: Wednesday 14 October
• Time: 6pm to 8.30pm
• Where: Enys Park, St Agnes AFC

Places can be booked through the Stepping Over the Sidelines sign-up form, which also has more information about the session.

And if the thought of a coaching course feels a long way off, Cornwall FA’s message is short. “No experience needed. Just bring yourself and see where football could take you.”
