Perranporth library wall transformed by butterfly mural in a week
A week ago it was a plain white wall. Now two children sit among the flowers while butterflies drift past, and anyone walking by the library in Perranporth gets a splash of colour on the way.
Perranzabuloe Parish Council has confirmed that the new mural at Perranporth Community Library is finished.

From bare wall to butterflies
Work on the wall began on Wednesday 23 September, when the parish council announced that artist ATMStreetart had started on site.
“We are very excited to have artist ATMStreetart undertaking this work,” the council said at the time, promising updates as the painting took shape.
An early photo shared by the council shows the outlines of three butterflies sketched in black over the white render, with ferns and yellow flowers already filling the lower corner. A step stool, paint pots and palettes sit on the ground beside the wall.
What the finished mural shows
The completed piece fills the whole panel of the wall. A bright blue butterfly sits at the centre, with a darker one to its left and a third resting on yellow flowers to the right, its wings closed to show orange and black spots.
Behind them a soft landscape of green and gold rolls away under a pale sky. On the left, a girl in a red spotted dress sits with a book open on her lap while a boy beside her points out across the scene.
Look low down in the right-hand corner and there is more going on. Ants are gathered around a green caterpillar among the pink and yellow flowers.
Thanks from the parish council
The council announced the finished mural on its Facebook page this week.
“Thank you to all those who stopped to speak with the artist and for all your wonderful feedback,” it said. “What a fantastic job.”
The project was part funded by a grant from FEAST, which the council also thanked.
