Truro wants an hour of your time for its tenth City Clean Up

An hour. That is the ask going out to shops, offices and organisations across the city this month, and it comes with a litter stick.

The City Clean Up returns to Truro on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, and this autumn’s event is the tenth. It is hosted by Truro BID in conjunction with Newham BID.

What the City Clean Up is

The aim is to get as many businesses and organisations as possible to volunteer an hour, or whatever time they can spare, to help clean and tidy what Truro BID calls “our great little city”.

It reaches beyond the centre too. Local community volunteers are organising litter picks in Truro’s surrounding neighbourhoods as part of the City Clean Up. Damien Richards, Community Development Officer at Truro City Council, will also be inviting Truro community groups to take part.

What businesses are being asked to do

Truro businesses are being invited to join in within the city centre on Friday 16 October. The work would last an hour and there are three jobs on the list:

• Sign washing
• Cable tie cutting
• Litter picking

Nobody needs to bring their own kit. Truro BID says it will supply high visibility vests, gloves, bags and litter sticks, with thanks to Clean Cornwall.

How to sign up, and the deadline

Businesses whose staff want to take part should email [email protected] as soon as possible. The cut-off is this Friday (9 October), a week before the city centre session.
