Truro’s antiques market returns to a new spot by the Cathedral

The antiques traders are coming back to Truro. For the first time since 2023, the city’s antiques and collectables market is returning, and this time the stalls will be set out in front of the Cathedral.

The one-day market takes place on Wednesday 7 October, from 9.30am to 4pm, at High Cross outside Truro Cathedral. Expect a wide spread of distinctive, pre-loved antiques and collectables to browse and buy, with the city’s historic cathedral as the backdrop.

A new home in the heart of the city

The market is organised by Truro BID, the not-for-profit company that delivers projects, events and services for the benefit of Truro and its businesses. It was also behind the city’s earlier Truro Antiques and Collectables Markets, which ran before Covid and carried on until 2023.

Those earlier markets were held on Lemon Quay. The move to High Cross adds the antiques stalls to what the city already offers on a Wednesday, and the hope is that it draws people into another part of Truro city centre too.

“We’re delighted to enhance the city’s Wednesday market offer by bringing the Truro Antiques and Collectables Market to High Cross, outside the Cathedral in October,” said Alun Jones, Truro BID Manager. “We hope the new location will boost footfall in the Pydar Street shopping area and bring more customers to businesses across the city.”

Starting small, with an eye on next year

October’s market will be a slightly smaller affair than the old event on Lemon Quay. That is by design. Truro BID hopes to grow the market from here and bring it back for more dates next year, with more traders taking part.

Room for one or two more sellers

If you deal in antiques and fancy a pitch outside the Cathedral, there is still a little space. Truro BID currently has room for one or two more sellers on Wednesday 7 October, and anyone interested in a stall can email [email protected].
