Miracle Theatre’s Peer Gynt hits halfway point of summer tour

Trolls, dreamers and a van that has so far dodged both heat stroke and lightning. Miracle Theatre has reached the midpoint of its 2026 outdoor summer tour, and there is still time to catch Peer Gynt in a Cornish garden or castle before the season packs up at the end of August.

The company opened the tour in June and has been taking its retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s classic to gardens, castles, village greens and open-air venues across Cornwall and the wider South West. The production leans on Miracle’s familiar mix of physical theatre, music and visual storytelling, turning outdoor settings into temporary stages.

The story follows Peer Gynt, a dreamer whose chase after wealth, status and adventure pulls him into a fantastical world of trolls, strange creatures and other memorable characters. It is pitched at families, groups of friends and people who have never been to the theatre before, with comedy and music running throughout.

Where to catch it before August ends

With the tour half done, several dates remain. Peer Gynt plays at Above The Bay in Falmouth on Saturday 25th and Tuesday 28th July, then Restormel Castle on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August, before the final run at Enys Gardens from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th August.

Bill Scott, founder of Miracle Theatre, said reaching the halfway mark brought mixed feelings.

“Reaching the halfway point of our summer tour brings mixed feelings; a sense of achievement (having made it this far avoiding heat stroke and lightning strikes!) and slight regret that it won’t be long before we’re packing up the van for the last time this summer.”

Bill added that the response from audiences and communities had been the highlight so far.

“We’ve been thrilled by the warmth of audiences and the wonderful welcome we’ve received from communities across the region. Every venue brings something unique to the performance, and that’s what makes outdoor theatre such a magical experience. We can’t wait to visit the remaining locations and share Peer Gynt with even more people over the coming weeks.”

Miracle Theatre has spent more than four decades bringing theatre to rural communities and staging shows in unusual settings. The tour runs through July and August across Cornwall and the South West, finishing at Enys Gardens on 29 August.
