A driver in Bodmin has had their car seized after being caught driving dangerously through the town centre and Priory Park, despite already being on a police warning for the same behaviour.

Bodmin Police received a report yesterday evening of a white BMW swerving in and out of traffic, speeding and revving its engine through the town centre. Officers from Bodmin Neighbourhood and Road Traffic units located the vehicle and stopped it outside Lidl.

When they checked the driver’s details, it emerged they already held a Section 59 warning, issued under powers that allow police to seize vehicles being used in an anti-social manner. A first warning is typically issued as a caution; a second offence gives officers the power to confiscate the vehicle on the spot.

The car was seized, the driver was reported, and they were left to make their own way home on foot.

Bodmin Police shared news of the incident on social media with a wry summary: “Some people never learn.”
