Bodmin litter pickers hit 856 with a boot full of surprises
Tom’s car was stuffed. Not with shopping or camping gear, but with rubbish hauled off the Launceston Road industrial estate, boot to back seat.

A haul too big to carry
The Bodmin Tidy it Team were out again, and some of what they found was more than a couple of hands could manage. Trish and Nigel came across so much along Old Callywith Road that they couldn’t leave it, and had to call on Gary and Roger to help bring it all back.
The rest of the team found plenty too. One particular menace was the plastic gloves blown all over the place from Asda’s garage, scattered far and wide.
By the end, the tally read like the contents of a fly-tipper’s garage: 20 bags of rubbish, 14 bags of recycling, two tyres, two wheel hubs, a lorry bumper, a cone, a set of drawers, a chair, cardboard, assorted plastic items and vapes.
The running total climbs
That lot pushed the team’s running total to 856. It’s a number built one bag at a time, and it keeps climbing.
Thanks went to the crew who made it happen: Trish, Nigel, Roger, Gary, Jeremy, Sue, Anne, Lin, Karen, Gordon, Lindsay, Jo, Ash, Andy D, Tom, Max and Paul, along with the Biffa crew and Clean Cornwall.
Bring the kids along
With the summer holidays on, the Bodmin Tidy it Team would love some young people to join in. The next litter pick is on Wednesday, 5 August at 9.45am, towards the top of Trelawney Road, near Burden Close.
