Bodmin volunteers pass 1,000 bags in latest litter clean-up

Two more Bodmin streets have come up clean this week, and a volunteer group better known for its hi-vis than its headlines has quietly gone past a milestone worth marking.

Two picks, one big haul

With Gilly away, Trish took charge of the latest outings for the Bodmin Tidy it Team, with Tom and Gary bringing along the equipment. The group completed two litter picks. One outside Lidl brought in 13 bags of recycling and 10 bags of rubbish. A second, along Wallace Road, added another 9 bags of recycling and 12 bags of rubbish.

Past the 1,000 mark

Between the two picks, that is 44 more bags off Bodmin’s streets, and it tips the group’s running total over a four-figure number for the first time: 1,050 bags collected.

New meeting point to dodge the car park fees

The next pick is this Wednesday, 23 September, and it comes with a change of scenery. The group is meeting along Meadow Place instead of its usual spot, a switch that gets volunteers into the Burgage Plots without anyone having to pay for parking. The usual time applies, 9.45am, and Gilly’s one instruction stands: suitable footwear only.
