Cheese grater and cat box among Bodmin litter pick finds
A cheese grater. A cat box. A suitcase stuffed with blankets. None of them should have ended up on the verges of a Bodmin housing estate, but that is where a group of volunteers found them.
There was good news too. The Bodmin Tidy it Team came away from its latest litter pick feeling happy, because there was far less rubbish around than usual.

Fewer bags than last time
The group worked its way around Rock Lane, St Mary’s Road, Burden Close and the surrounding estates in Bodmin.
Last time the volunteers filled 34 bags. This time it was 19, made up of 9 bags of recycling and 10 bags of rubbish.
That takes the team’s running total to 1,086 bags.
A pile of fly-tipping left behind
The general litter may be easing off, but fly-tipping is still turning up. The team found a large pile of dumped items, including:
- 2 bikes
- a lamp shade
- a shoe
- a cheese grater
- a suitcase with blankets
- a cat box
- a doormat
- vapes
And other things besides. The group pointed out that all of it should have gone to the Household Waste site.
New faces on the team
Several people joined the group for the first time. Gilly, posting on behalf of the team, thanked Jimmy, Ash, Anne, Jeremy, Sue, Lindsay, Tom, Trish, Nigel, Max, Jo, Andy D and Andy V for coming along.
The team also thanked Clean Cornwall and Biffa for their continued support.

When the next pick is
The next session is next Wednesday (7 October), meeting at 9.45am in the car park at Asda in Bodmin.
And the group is expecting some extra help, with members of Bodmin Inner Wheel set to join them.
