What Bodmin’s litter pickers dragged out of the Burgage Plots

A strimmer with its cord still wound on. Three traffic cones. A length of orange site barrier, a stack of buckets, a tyre and a heap of black bags. That is what came out of one corner of Bodmin on a single Wednesday morning, and the people who pulled it out did it for nothing.

Into the Burgage Plots

The Bodmin Tidy it Team was back out on Wednesday (23 September), starting from Meadow Place so the volunteers could get into the Burgage Plots and drag out the rubbish and dumped items that had built up there.

That was the main target, but it was not the only one. Plenty of other streets around the town were tidied during the same session.

Seventeen bags and a pile of fly-tipping

By the end of the morning the team had filled 10 bags of rubbish and 7 bags of recycling. On top of that sat what the group described as a huge pile of fly-tipped items.

Those 17 bags take the group’s running total to 1,067.

The team also thanked Clean Cornwall and Biffa for their support.

Sixteen names on the thank-you list

In an update shared after the pick, Gilly from the group said it was great to be back out with the team, and thanked everyone who turned up: Trish, Tom, Gary, Karen, Ash, Andy D, Lindsay, Gordon, Theresa, Richard, Mandy, Teriza, Sue, Anne, Debs and Jackki.

The next pick is on Wednesday 30 September, with volunteers meeting at 9.45am at Burden Close.
