What Bodmin’s litter pickers pulled from the hedges this week
A week’s worth of roadside litter looks very different once it is all in one heap. For one group of volunteers in Bodmin, the heap included two traffic cones, a length of lorry trim and something they would rather not have found at all.
The Bodmin Tidy it Team spent Wednesday morning (7 October) working along hedges and verges in the town. By the time they finished, they had filled 10 bags of recycling and 16 bags of rubbish.

What came out of the hedges
Bottles and cans made up much of the haul. The rest was a mixed bag.
Alongside the two cones, the team listed wire, lorry trim, cardboard, wood, plastic, a bucket and vapes among the items dragged out.
And then there was the find the group singled out as the worst of the morning.
“The worst thing being a huge container of driver tizzer, gross,” the team said.
Who turned out
The regular litter pickers were joined on the morning by four members of Inner Wheel: Sandy, Marianne, Linda and Penny.
The team also thanked its regulars, Anne, Andy, Debs, Trish, Nigel, Tom, Max, Sue, Jo, Jeremy, Mandy and Theresa, along with Clean Cornwall and Biffa.
“Well done everyone!” the group said.
Where the team is heading next
The next litter pick is on Wednesday 14 October. Volunteers will meet at 9.45am along Foxglove Road, near Chy Trevail, to give that area a tidy up.
“Everyone welcome to join us,” the team said.
