Jonathon Porritt Brings Book Tour to Cornwall

Celebrated environmentalist and author Jonathon Porritt is returning to Cornwall next month to share stories from some of the UK’s most prominent young climate campaigners.

Jonathon Porritt will visit Truro and Penzance on 17th and 18th March as part of his UK tour for his latest book, Love, Anger & Betrayal. The book explores the courage, conviction and controversy surrounding 26 young Just Stop Oil activists and their calls for urgent action on climate change.

Described by George Monbiot as “magnificent and crucial, a lodestone for all we believe in”, the book focuses on the motivations behind a generation prepared to risk arrest in pursuit of what they describe as climate justice.

Truro event on 17th March

The first Cornwall event takes place on Tuesday 17th March from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Truro Lifehouse, Tresawls Road, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 3LD.

The evening will include a talk from Jonathon, followed by a question and answer session and a book signing. The event is free to attend, but advance booking is required via Eventbrite.

Penzance event on 18th March

Jonathon will then travel to Penzance on Wednesday 18th March for a second event at the Union Hotel, Chapel Street, Penzance, TR18 4AE. This event runs from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

As with the Truro date, the evening will feature a talk, Q&A and book signing. Free tickets are available in advance through Eventbrite.

Reflecting on a generation in crisis

During the events, Jonathon invites audiences to reflect on what drives young people to take direct action, and what their actions mean for Britain’s political and moral landscape.

Speaking about the tour, Jonathon said:

“These are young people facing a world in crisis — and refusing to look away. Their story deserves to be heard, shared, and debated in every community in the country.”
