Bude lifeboat’s Liam and Paul land second at KeltX fitness race
Two members of Bude‘s lifeboat crew spent last weekend a long way from the water. And they came home with a big number 2 on a flag.
Bude RNLI has shared its pride after crewmates Liam and Paul Corthine finished second in the Pro 40-49 division at KeltX, the doubles fitness race held at the Royal Cornwall Showground from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October.

A doubles race built on grit
KeltX is billed as the ultimate doubles fitness race, and for three days it took over the Showground. The lifeboat station described the weekend as one that brought together grit, teamwork and a lot of determination.
Photos from the event show the pair at the wall balls arch, swinging a kettlebell overhead and grinding away on an exercise bike, with one partner urging the other on from the side.
Second in the Pro 40-49 division
Liam and Paul took on the gruelling challenge together and, in the words of their station, “smashed it” to take second place in their division.
“We couldn’t be prouder to call Liam and Paul our crewmates,” Bude RNLI said.
A fifth-place finish for the next generation
The grown-ups were not the only ones making the results. Liam’s daughter stepped up in the NeXgen 9-11 division and finished fifth.
The station said the grit and spirit clearly run in the family, and that it was proud to see the next generation stepping up with the same drive.
It also said events like KeltX bring the local community together and celebrate fitness across all ages.

The before and after
Bude RNLI shared a set of before and after shots of the pair. Before, two crewmates square up in matching black T-shirts with their arms folded. After, one of them is flat on his back on the Showground floor, still managing a shaka.
