£1,200 raised for Cornwall Air Ambulance at Rewind Radio awards

A handcrafted glass bowl, dinner at Rick Stein’s and a pair of pearl earrings all played their part in the £1,200 that guests raised for Cornwall Air Ambulance last month.

The money came from a charity raffle held at the inaugural Cornwall’s Rewind Radio Business Awards, which brought finalists, sponsors and businesses together at Tregenna Castle in May. Alongside recognising the county’s business community, guests bought raffle tickets to support one of Cornwall’s most vital charities.

The prizes on offer

Local businesses donated a spread of prizes for the raffle. They included a handcrafted glass bowl from Jo Downs, dinner with wine at Rick Stein’s, pearl earrings from Klimek Jewellers and a luxury gift basket from Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, with more besides.

The full £1,200 has already gone to Cornwall Air Ambulance, which covers Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Julia Jeffery, the charity’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the fantastic support of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio and the wonderful generosity shown by everyone in the community who donated prizes or purchased raffle tickets.

“The £1,200 raised at the Business Awards will directly support our crew to provide critical care to those who need it the most across our region and will help ensure we can continue to be there for someone’s tomorrow. Thank you.”

A first awards night for the station

The Business Awards drew more than 300 nominations across 17 categories, covering businesses and individuals from every corner of Cornwall. Focus Technology Europe Ltd sponsored the evening.

Guests were entertained by Rock Choir Cornwall, magic from Adrian Ward Magic and live music through the night.

Helen Snowden, Events Manager at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said: “One of the things we’re most proud of is that our events don’t just celebrate our community, they also give us the opportunity to give something back. Raising £1,200 for Cornwall Air Ambulance is an incredible achievement and we’re so grateful to everyone who bought raffle tickets, donated prizes and supported this fantastic cause.

“The generosity shown by our guests was overwhelming. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to every business that donated a prize. Their kindness helped make the raffle such a success and will make a real difference to Cornwall Air Ambulance.”
