Brend Collection Completes Shareholder Buyout and Confirms Continued Family Ownership
Family-owned group marks new chapter after shareholder buyout
The Brend Collection, owners of several high-profile hotels across the South West including The Carlyon Bay Hotel in St Austell and The Royal Duchy Hotel and Spa in Falmouth, have confirmed the completion of a shareholder buyout and are moving forward under the continued leadership of the Brend family.
The group remains fully family-owned following what has been described as a successful and amicable agreement.
Iconic hotels across the South West
First founded in 1955 by Percy and Florence Brend, the group now includes some of the most recognisable hotels in the region:
-
The Carlyon Bay Hotel, Cornwall
-
The Royal Duchy, Falmouth
-
The Saunton Sands Hotel, Saunton
-
The Victoria and The Belmont, Sidmouth
-
The Park, The Imperial, The Royal & Fortescue, and The Barnstaple Hotel, all in Barnstaple
In recent years, the group has invested heavily in its offering, including the creation of award-winning Source Spa and Wellness centres at The Saunton Sands and The Victoria hotels. A new spa development is also in the pipeline for The Carlyon Bay Hotel.
New direction, same family values
Peter Brend, Director, said:
“A sense of family has always been at the heart of our business, and nothing will change in that respect. It’s an ethos that drives everything we do – from our service philosophy to our most valued assets and our highly professional team.”
The company’s rebrand over the past three years has been part of its evolution under the current leadership team. Directors Peter Brend, Matthew Brend and Justin Brend, along with chairman John Brend, are committed to leading the group into the future.
Matthew Brend added:
“We will continue to invest in our wonderful properties and are very proud of all that has been achieved over the last seventy years. We wish Richard Brend and his family all the best and every success with The Royal Hotel, The Devon Hotel and Taw Garages.”
The group currently employs over 1,100 staff and says it remains focused on delivering high-quality hospitality for future generations.
