Falmouth’s largest beer garden pours pints again at Fives

The retractable canopy is back out over Grove Place, and cold pints are flowing outdoors again at Falmouth’s biggest beer garden. Fives Cyderhouse has switched draught service back on in its outside areas, and lined up a brand new food menu to go with it.

A new pizza menu, and a first for Fives

Alongside the return of several old favourites and a refresh of its popular food deals, Fives Cyderhouse has introduced three pizza sizes for the first time, at 9, 12 and 15 inches. The 15-inch option is new ground for the venue, built on the same homemade dough and much-loved flavours, just more of them.

Every pizza is prepared from scratch in-house. Fresh dough is made each morning using a blend of organic Shipton Mill flours, hand-stretched to order, and topped with Cornish ingredients sourced from local farms, growers, producers and artisans wherever possible.

Draught drinks return to the garden

The return of draught service to the outdoor areas follows confirmation of a licence extension, and coincides with the launch of the new food menu.

Laura Clerehugh, Head of Hospitality at Healeys Cyder, said the team is delighted customers can once again enjoy the full Fives experience in the gardens. “September is a wonderful time of year in Cornwall. We often enjoy beautiful weather, Falmouth still has a fantastic atmosphere and there’s so much to see and do without the height-of-summer rush,” Laura said.

“With draught drinks available in the beer garden, a new food menu now launched and plenty of cold drinks waiting at the bar, it’s the perfect time to come along and see us. We’re incredibly proud of the team and can’t wait to welcome locals, students and visitors throughout September and beyond.”

Falmouth’s largest beer garden

Fives Cyderhouse sits at 7 Grove Place, opposite the National Maritime Museum, in the heart of Falmouth. Its rear garden is arranged across two levels and now includes a newly added decking area, the largest such space in the town.

Sheltered and warm when the Cornish sun appears, the rear garden offers an inviting spot for drinks and dining outdoors. During the winter months the garden areas are fully covered, making them a comfortable and consistent space throughout the year.

“Far more than a pub”

Jon Newton, General Manager at Fives Cyderhouse, said it is great to make full use of the outside areas again. “There’s nothing better than sipping an ice-cold beer or cocktail in the Cornish sunshine while catching up with friends and family, and we’re delighted to be able to offer that complete experience once more,” Jon said.

“The past few months have been challenging for the business, particularly during such a warm summer, but the team at Fives has dealt with everything remarkably well. We’re delighted with the outcome and can’t wait to see what the next few months bring. We’d also like to thank all our regulars for their ongoing support, it really does mean a lot to us.”

More than 10 draught lines and Sky Sports

Fives Cyderhouse is owned by Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm and led by brothers Joe Healey and Sam Healey. The Healey family’s farm, based at Penhallow near Truro, has been producing Cornish cyders, wines, spirits, juices, preserves and sauces for four decades.

With more than 10 draught lines, freshly prepared pizzas served throughout the week and Sky Sports showing the biggest fixtures, the venue is aiming to offer something for every occasion. Fives Cyderhouse is also an active member of Falmouth BID, and says it is pleased to play its part in supporting the town’s hospitality industry, suppliers and producers.
