Growth Hub Webinars on Alternative Business Models Available On Demand

Businesses and community organisations across Cornwall can still access a series of webinars exploring alternative ways of running and growing organisations, despite the live sessions now having ended.

The on-demand recordings, provided by the Growth Hub, focus on what are described as alternative business models. These include co operatives, mutuals, employee owned firms and other purpose led enterprises that aim to balance commercial success with social value.

Growing interest in new business approaches

The webinar series was created in response to increasing interest in these types of business structures. The Department for Business & Trade has described this part of the economy as a “significant but often overlooked” area.

Locally, the Growth Hub has already identified more than 100 examples across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. These range from community run shops and pubs to energy projects, housing societies and employee owned businesses.

What the webinars cover

Although the live sessions have now finished, the recordings remain available, allowing people to watch at a time that suits them.

Topics covered in the series include:

• Financial models that support purpose led businesses
• Exploring employee ownership for SMEs
• Recruiting and retaining volunteers in purpose driven organisations
• Bid writing for co operatives, charities and community businesses
