Matt Shepherd to wake up Cornwall as Rewind Radio Retro launches
Thirty-two years at the BBC, and now a brand new breakfast show. Matt Shepherd will be the first voice heard on Cornwall’s newest radio station when it switches on later this month.
Cornwall’s Rewind Radio has confirmed that its sister station, Rewind Radio Retro, will go live on Thursday 15 October. That is just over a week after Cornwall’s Rewind Radio marks its fifth birthday next Wednesday (7 October).

Three decades of hits
The new station is dedicated to music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It promises a nostalgic mix of classic hits and familiar voices from across Cornwall’s radio landscape.
Leading it is former BBC Radio Cornwall presenter Matt Shepherd, who joins after a 32-year career with the BBC. Matt takes on the role of Breakfast Presenter and will also help guide the station as it begins broadcasting.
“A huge honour”
“It’s so exciting to be part of the launch team for a brand-new radio station,” Matt said.
“All the fab on-air team and the brilliant people behind the scenes have been working really hard to produce your new radio station.
“I’m really proud to be part of Rewind Radio Retro and can’t wait for you to hear it!
“I can’t wait to wake up Cornwall on Thursday, October 15 at 8am. It’s a huge honour to be presenting Rewind Radio Retro’s first show.
“I am truly grateful to Richard and all the management team for giving me this amazing opportunity.”
Who else is on air
Drive time presenter Mark Dodson is returning to the Rewind team for the launch.
“I am super excited for the launch of Rewind Radio Retro,” Mark said. “I cannot wait to be playing the best songs from the golden era of music. It is also great to be back as part of the Rewind team.”
Saturday presenter Adam Carpenter has one concern.
“I am super excited to be working alongside such a talented group of people, both on air and behind the scenes,” Adam said, “but hoping none of them catch me dad dancing in the studio which, given our playlist, will be inevitable.”
