Penryn firms join forces on green hydrogen testing tech

Two businesses sharing the same innovation centre in Penryn have decided they are stronger working together than apart.

A new partnership at Tremough

Oxford nanoSystems and HiTPower, both based at Tremough Innovation Centre, have announced a partnership to develop a next generation of electrochemical test stations.

The two firms will pool their expertise to design, manufacture and bring to market high-performance testing systems built for water electrolysis and emerging electrochemical technologies.

The timing is no accident. Global demand for green hydrogen is rising, and electrochemistry is increasingly being used to take carbon out of the energy system. That growth has created a need for testing infrastructure that is accurate, scalable and reliable, and the partnership is aimed squarely at meeting it.

Who brings what

Oxford nanoSystems will contribute its specialist knowledge in electrochemistry along with its own proprietary test station design. HiTPower will bring advanced control system software and manufacturing capabilities. The result, the companies say, is a fully integrated solution designed to support innovation and scale within the clean energy sector.

A sign of Cornwall’s growing clean energy role

For the team behind the Cornwall Innovation Centres, the tie-up is exactly the kind of thing the centres are built to encourage.

The joint rollout of the new electrochemical test stations is now under way.

The Cornwall Innovation Centres comprise three locations across the county: the Health & Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Truro at Treliske, the Pool Innovation Centre in Pool, and the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn.
