Camborne home sealed for three more months over antisocial behaviour

A front door in Camborne that no one is allowed to walk through will stay that way until the autumn. The property, on Park an Tansys, has been kept under a full closure order since the spring, and a court has now agreed it should remain locked for another three months.

Why the property has been closed

The residential address was first hit with a three-month full closure order back in April. That order made it a criminal offence for anyone to enter the property, including the tenant.

It followed repeated reports of suspected drug-related activity and noise disturbances linked to the address. After a review of the situation, a further three-month closure order has been granted, and it will now stay in place until October 2026.

Police say extending the order will stop the property becoming a source of more antisocial behaviour and give nearby residents continued reassurance.

What the police said

Police Inspector Lou Brown said the decision was not taken lightly.

“We never take the decision to obtain a closure order lightly,” Lou said. “However, in this case the address had been the source of repeated reports of ASB which were having a negative impact on people living nearby.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable in their own home. No one’s quality of life should be affected by ASB in their community.

“Extending the order will help prevent a return of ASB previously associated with the property and provide continued reassurance to local residents.

“We will continue [to] work closely with our ASB Officer Kay Smith to tackle crime and ASB across our communities.”

What the council said

Kay Smith, Anti Social Behaviour Caseworker for Cornwall Council covering Camborne, thanked residents for coming forward.

“Once again we are grateful to the local community for bringing their concerns to our attention and assisting us with the evidence required to obtain this closure,” Kay said.

“You cannot underestimate the effect ASB has on the lives of those living nearby, and I want to make it clear we will always do whatever is required to restore peace and calm into our communities.”

The full closure order was granted by Truro Magistrates Court on 14 July.

Support for the community and the tenants

The local police team and Cornwall Council’s ASB team are continuing to work with local partners so that both the affected community and the tenants get the right support. Those living at the address have been linked into appropriate services while the order remains in place.

The Camborne Neighbourhood Policing Team said it will keep working with partner organisations to reduce crime that affects communities.
