Camborne Library Hosts Screen-Printing Workshop

Published On: 6 February 2024Last Updated: 6 February 2024By

In an exciting event for local creatives and DIY enthusiasts, Camborne Library is set to host a unique Monthly Makers workshop focused on the art of screen printing. Participants will have the chance to learn how to make their very own screen-printed book bags during this hands-on session. The workshop promises to teach attendees the fundamentals of screen printing, offering them the skills to apply this technique on various projects independently.

Scheduled for two dates in February, the first session will take place on Saturday, 24th February, from 09:30 to 11:30, followed by two sessions on Tuesday, 27th February, the first running from 09:30 to 11:30 and the second from 13:00 to 15:00. This initiative not only aims to foster creativity among the community members but also to provide them with a practical skill they can continue to develop.

The workshop will guide participants through the process of cutting out designs and using fabric ink to screen print them onto tote bags. Those interested in bringing a pre-made design are advised to ensure it fits within the dimensions of 8cm x 11cm. This requirement ensures that each design can be properly applied to the tote bags provided during the workshop.

An important note for potential attendees is the necessity to handle and manipulate a craft knife safely, highlighting the workshop’s hands-on and practical nature. This requirement underscores the importance of safety and precision in the screen-printing process.

The workshop is priced at £5 per ticket, making it an accessible option for individuals looking to explore or refine their screen-printing skills. To secure a spot or to be added to the waiting list, interested individuals are encouraged to contact Camborne Library directly, either by messaging online or by visiting the library’s front desk to book in person. This event represents a wonderful opportunity for community members to engage in a creative pursuit, learn a new skill, and perhaps even spark a lifelong interest in the craft of screen printing.
