Camborne playpark reopens after retaining wall replaced

The wooden wall next to the playpark at Camborne Recreation Ground had been quietly falling apart, and it took a stretch of hard winter weather, ordinary wear and a run of vandalism to finish it off. The replacement is now in, and the gates are open again.

What the work involved

Camborne Town Council has confirmed that the essential works to replace the wooden retaining wall beside the playpark at Camborne Recreation Ground are complete.

The old structure had deteriorated after a period of severe winter weather, general wear and tear, and instances of vandalism. Over recent weeks the Council’s Amenities Team removed the old retaining wall, put in improved foundations, and built a new, more durable replacement.

The playpark is fully open again

All temporary closures within the playpark have now been lifted, and the area is fully open for public use.

The Council thanked residents and visitors for their patience while the work was carried out, and said the completed job has improved the safety, stability and longevity of the play area. The aim is to keep Camborne Recreation Ground a safe and welcoming space for children and families through the summer and beyond.

What the Amenities Team does next

Camborne Town Council thanked the Amenities Team for delivering the project with minimal disruption. With the wall finished, the team is turning back to essential maintenance across the Town Council’s assets, including footpath and verge cutting.
