E-scooter seized in Camborne after rider had already been warned

You might think a quiet word from the police would be the end of it. For one e-scooter rider in Camborne, it wasn’t.

The scooter has now been seized, and the rider has been reported for the relevant offences.

A patrol in Pengegon

A PC and a PCSO from the local Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police team were out patrolling the Pengegon area of Camborne. They were there because of reports of illegal e-bikes and scooters being used in the area.

While on patrol, they came across this electric scooter being ridden on Meneth Road.

Warned once already

It wasn’t the first time the scooter had come to police attention. Images of it being used illegally had already been shown to the officer, and the rider had been given words of advice.

This time the scooter was taken away.

How to report illegal e-scooters and e-bikes

Police are asking anyone who knows of someone using an illegal mode of transport to report it. There are three ways to do that:

• Call 101
• Report online through the Devon and Cornwall Police website
• Report anonymously through Crimestoppers

The patrol was in response to reports from the Pengegon area, and the scooter now sits with the police.
