Sunday Lunch That’s Bringing Cornwall Closer Together

The West Cornwall Oddfellows Sunday Lunch Group recently came together at Camborne’s Shire Inn for an afternoon centred on good food and good company.

Around two dozen people attended the gathering, enjoying a traditional Sunday roast with all the classic trimmings. Some also opted for generously sized desserts. The event was marked by lively conversation, shared laughter and a strong sense of companionship among those present.

A Growing Social Tradition

The Sunday lunches form part of a wider programme of events organised by the Oddfellows. Held at different venues across West Cornwall, as well as Plymouth and East Cornwall, these regular meet-ups continue to bring people together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

The aim is to create a space where friendships can grow and new connections can be made with ease. Following the success of this latest gathering, members are already looking ahead to the next lunch planned for May 2026.

A Community Built on Friendship

The Plymouth and Truro District of the Oddfellows is part of one of the UK’s oldest friendly societies, with a focus on friendship, care and community spirit.

Open to people of all ages and backgrounds, the group offers an inclusive environment where members can feel supported and at home. Activities take place across Redruth, Truro, Plymouth and nearby areas, ranging from social lunches and friendship groups to organised trips, quizzes, talks, games and special events.

Membership also includes access to support services, a travel club, volunteering opportunities and the chance to build lasting friendships.

Anyone interested in joining can request a free information pack and a diary of upcoming events by contacting Peter English:
