Cornwall Powerchair Football Club Has Weeks to Find a New Home

A Cornwall sports club is facing an anxious countdown. With its season finals just over two weeks away, Cornwall Powerchair Football Club has been told to clear its equipment out of its current storage and now has nowhere to keep the kit its players depend on.

Why the club has to move

The club has been asked to remove its equipment from its storage facility at Carn Brea Leisure Centre, which it puts down to circumstances beyond its control. That has left it searching urgently for somewhere new in Cornwall before its players are left without a base.

It is after three things in particular: a sports hall suitable for powerchair football training, secure storage for six specialist powerchairs, and a venue in Cornwall that can support a disability sports club.

Why storage is the real problem

The club trains just twice a month. But moving six powerchairs to and from a venue for every session is extremely difficult, which is why having somewhere to store them is essential.

What the club gives its players

Cornwall Powerchair Football Club provides opportunities for disabled players to take part in competitive sport, build confidence, improve their wellbeing and be part of a supportive team environment.

Its season finals take place on 28th June, and the club says it needs to find a solution as soon as possible so its players can carry on training.
