£1,303.75 Raised by Bee Rowley: The Heartfelt Gesture Helping Chemo Patients
Bee Rowley’s Incredible Fundraising Effort
A heartfelt thank you has been extended to Bee Rowley, whose inspiring fundraising efforts have contributed £1,303.75 to the Heart of Headland Boxes initiative. Bee’s friends and family rallied behind her, helping her achieve this impressive amount to support patients undergoing chemotherapy or immunotherapy at Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Reflecting on her experience, Bee shared, “Chemotherapy can be challenging, so having items to help with the side effects right from the start eased some of the worries of facing the unknown.”
What Are Heart of Headland Boxes?
The Heart of Headland Boxes aim to provide newly diagnosed cancer patients with thoughtful items to ease their journey through chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Each box contains essential and comforting products like thermometers, hand creams, soft toothbrushes, and ginger tea to help manage side effects. These boxes were developed by Amy, a Breast Oncology Nurse Specialist at Royal Cornwall Hospital, who envisioned giving patients more than medical care during such a challenging time.
Amy explained, “We want to make our patients feel an extra level of support and care beyond the medical care that we provide at what can be a very difficult and daunting time for them.”
How Far Bee’s Contribution Will Go
Thanks to Bee’s contribution, 29 additional boxes will be created, providing vital support to patients as they begin their treatment. Each box costs £45 to assemble, with the option for donors to include a personalised card letting patients know their gift came from someone who cares.
How You Can Help
The Heart of Headland Boxes are funded entirely through donations, and supporters are encouraged to get involved. Whether you’d like to fund a single box or explore other ways to help, you can find more information on their JustGiving page.
This project, led by Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity in partnership with Cancer Services at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, continues to make a meaningful impact thanks to the generosity of the community.
