Callywith College students gear up for a gruelling challenge to support local life-saving team

First-year Uniformed Protective Services students at Callywith College are preparing for a charity Relay Row like no other, taking place all day in Temple Reception on Friday 4th April.

The high-energy challenge will see two student teams attempt to row 100,000 metres each within a seven-hour timeframe, all in aid of the East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team (ECSRT).

Rowing, Raffles and More

Alongside the physical challenge, students will also be running a bake sale, raffle, and a pair of fun guessing games — ‘Guess the Sweets in the Jar’ and ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ — to help raise as much as possible for ECSRT.

According to the college, “The day will be filled with rowing, teamwork, and community spirit!”

Supporting Life-Saving Work

Funds raised from the event will go directly to ECSRT, helping the team continue their critical work across the region. The money will support their ongoing efforts to remain operational and provide vital assistance to those in need.

A college spokesperson said, “The Relay Row is not just about rowing; it’s about uniting as a community to support a cause that makes a real difference.”

How to Donate

Those wanting to support the students and the East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team can donate via their JustGiving page.

“Callywith College is committed to creating a positive impact, and this event offers an exciting and meaningful way to contribute while having fun!”

The college is inviting everyone to come along, get involved, and be part of the action.
