Cornish Bikers to Ride in Memory of Jozef Stasiak This December
Cornish bikers are set to honour the life of a remarkable young boy, Jozef Stasiak, with a memorial ride this December. The event, taking place on Saturday, 7th December, aims to raise funds for Jozef’s Dream CIC and Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Harbour.
Starting at Carnon Downs Campsite
The ride will begin at midday from Carnon Downs Campsite and will conclude at the Ships and Castles car park in Falmouth. Spectators are welcome to line the route and cheer the bikers on as they complete the heartfelt journey.
For those wishing to take part, a £5 donation is requested, which will go towards the two charities supported by the event.
Supporting Medically Complex Children
Jozef’s Dream CIC was founded by Jozef’s mum, Heidi, to support children and families living with complex medical needs. The organisation focuses on creating sensory spaces in schools and aims to foster a community where all children are valued and included.
Heidi shared her motivation for founding the charity:
“We believe that every individual has a valuable purpose in life. With help from other individuals or within a support group, we hope to support caregivers to feel and believe that whatever their wish for their child’s future life may be, they are listened to, and believed and can find strength to overcome any negativity or barriers, thus helping the caregiver to gain confidence in moving forward and helping their child reach their full potential.”
The charity also runs a support group for medically complex children and their families, held on the second Tuesday of each month at The Hub in Carnon Downs from 12 pm to 12.30 pm.
Remembering Jozef
Jozef was born on 6th November 2010 with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Tragically, his twin brother Jacob passed away at just three-and-a-half months old. Despite challenges, Jozef lived life with resilience and determination, touching the hearts of those around him.
Jozef had a special connection with the sound of motorbikes, making it fitting that bikes played a significant role in his final journey when he passed away in December 2022. Motorcyclists from across Cornwall came together to pay tribute to him, and this memorial ride continues that tradition.
Heidi reflected on Jozef’s life, saying:
“Jozef showed me how determined he was right from the start, proving doctors wrong at every opportunity. Even though he struggled at times, he always kept a smile on his face; he was a light in my heart.”
